8 Hour Hazwoper This course is a shortened version of the 40-Hour HAZWOPER for persons on site only occasionally for a specific limited task and who are unlikely to be exposed over published exposure limits. Hands-on activities are included. Less emphasis is placed on level A & B PPE and more advanced spill containment activities.

This course is designed to meet the OSHA requirements for those individuals exposed to hazardous substances, health hazards, or safety hazards and their supervisors and management responsible for the site. The sites covered by this standard include various CERCLA, RCRA and other sites where uncontrolled hazardous waste exists or where hazardous substances or health hazards have been or have the potential to be released.

Topics include: site characterization and communication of hazards to affected employees, work practices by which the employee risks can be minimized, medical surveillance requirements, contents of the site safety and health plan and personal protective equipment requirements. Extensive hands-on activities are an integral part of the course and allow each student to wear level B PPE and perform various simulated spill clean up and decontamination operations. A 75-question exam will be give at the conclusion of the course. Attendees in this course have included: environmental and safety consultants, environmental engineers and drilling technicians, property developers, demolition and excavation contractors, and individual involved in conducting environmental site assessments.

Gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing, cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a device used to treat a person in cardiac arrest by giving their heart an electric shock. The AED is used in addition to CPR, if necessary This class is for those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

This course for private sector personnel covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA general industry standards. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Topics Include: OSH Act, Safety and Health Management Systems, Personal Protective Equipment, Hazard Communication, and Electrical. A copy of 29 CFR 1910 is provided to the students. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA general industry safety and health 30-hour course completion card.This course serves as the pre-requisite for the OSHA 501 course.

OSHA’s Permit Required Confined Space standard requires the employer to train the employees whose work is covered by the standard to safely perform their assigned duties. Therefore, training is required for authorized entrants, attendants, entry supervisors and rescue personnel. This standard is performance oriented and does not specify the hours of required training. However, depending on the current knowledge of these individuals, 4 – 8 hours of training should be sufficient. Those individuals, whose duties include rescue, must simulate a rescue scenario on an annual basis. AESI conducts customized Permit Required Confined Space Training for companies at their job sites or at our Training Center. Employees must also receive additional training and demonstrate understanding, if inspection or conditions show, that the employees are not following established procedures or that safety has been compromised.

Participants are taken through a typical work cycle to learn how to recognize causes of lift truck accident and how to take or initiate preventive measures. Additional topics covered include legal responsibilities, hazard identification, load capacity and vehicle stability, fuel safety, defensive driving techniques and propane safety.Refresher is required every three years after initial training and is primarily operational skills (forklift rodeo). Additional specific retraining may be required if there is an incident. (By OSHA requirements this training should be given on work site)

The focus of this course is to identify, evaluate, and prevent or control fall hazards at constructions sites. The course focuses on falls to a lower level not falls to the same level resulting from slips and falls. The target audience is the small construction employer, business owner, or manager who would like to obtain information about fall hazards found in the workplace. The training is also suitable for employees and employee representatives. Topics include identifying fall hazards, analyzing fall hazards, and preventing fall hazards as well as OSHA resources addressing fall hazards.

The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations require waste accumulation managers and other employees to be trained. The standard specifically states that the generator “Ensure that all employees are thoroughly familiar with proper waste handling and emergency procedures, relevant to their responsibilities during normal facility operations and emergencies.” In addition, anyone that could cause non-compliance at the facility must be trained. Depending on the generator’s storage option, there may be requirements to establish a written training plan and annual refresher training. Most employees can attend 4-Hour training sessions to meet these requirements. AESI conducts customized RCRA Training for companies at their job sites or at our Training Center.

Topics Include: OSH Act, Safety Programs, Fall Protection, Personal Protective Equipment, Stairs and Ladders. A copy of 29 CFR 1926 is provided to the students in this course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA construction safety and health 30-hour course completion card.This course serves as the pre-requisite for the OSHA 500 course.

Requirements: No Experience Required

In this one-day course, students will learn about the role and responsibility of the employer to assign a competent person to the excavation site and arm that person with the knowledge to perform the work properly. Topics include the understanding and application of definitions relating to OSHA’s Excavation Standard (Subpart P), excavation hazards and control measures, soil analysis techniques, protective system requirements and emergency response. At the conclusion of this course, the participant will understand the importance and duties of a competent person towards excavation work and will have the knowledge and skills that are required to perform those duties.
